Embracing the Unexpected: From Consultant to Classroom

Ignition

From a young age, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. I remember my first fancy dress competition at school—I dressed up as a teacher. The thought of guiding young minds, sparking curiosity, and making a meaningful impact on others filled me with purpose. My teachers and professors were constant sources of inspiration.

In 2018, I met a Physical-Chemistry professor at Dhempe College whose aura and grace captivated me. When she asked me about my aspirations, I found myself saying, “I’d like to become a professor,” inspired by the compassion, support, and dedication I had seen in my own mentors. Her words, “Manifest it, and it will come to you,” resonated deeply with me, staying with me long after our brief conversation.

A Detour into the Corporate World Like so many others, my path took an unexpected turn when the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. I found myself stepping into a role as a diet consultant, focusing on clinical nutrition and supporting patients through difficult times. This role provided stability in uncertain times, but deep down, I also wanted to do something different. While I found satisfaction in helping others improve their health, I always felt something was missing. I longed for the classroom, the chance to connect with learners, and the fulfillment that teaching had always promised me. My childhood dream of teaching never truly faded, even as it seemed to be put on hold.
A Life-Changing Opportunity One day, an opportunity arrived from a beloved professor: a teaching position at Sunshine Worldwide School. I knew instantly that this was what I had been waiting for—the path I had dreamed of as a child was finally opening before me. Leaving behind my corporate role, I embraced this chance wholeheartedly, ready for a new chapter that felt true to who I was. I vividly remember my interview with Mr. Deepak Khaitan and Ms. Patricia. Though nervous at first, the conversation flowed smoothly, as if I had found my place. Walking into Sunshine Worldwide School felt like coming home to a community that valued individual growth, happiness, and self-acceptance—ideals I had discussed during my Human Development classes in college. The school’s philosophy of “no comparisons, only growth” resonated with me deeply, especially after experiencing a corporate environment focused on targets and strict hours.
Finding Fulfilment and Purpose The early months of teaching were both exhilarating and challenging, teaching me that being an educator demands patience, empathy, and adaptability—qualities I was eager to develop, especially as my mother would often call me a “short-tempered person.” Thankfully, I was surrounded by an inspiring and supportive community, with directors Deepak Sir and Patricia Ma’am offering guidance and encouragement. Reflecting on my journey, I am grateful for every twist and turn that brought me here. From working as a diet consultant in a corporate setting to finding fulfilment as an educator, each experience has strengthened my resilience and perspective. Now, I have the privilege of guiding my students on their own journeys, helping them recognize their unique strengths and supporting them as they strive to become their best selves. This transition from corporate life to teaching has been transformative, showing me that true fulfilment lies in following what makes you feel alive. Every day at Sunshine, I strive not only to teach but also to inspire my students with the values of resilience, self-belief, and authenticity.
Moving Forward with Purpose Looking back, I realize that my journey was never meant to be a straight line. It was about embracing change and staying true to what brings joy. Teaching isn’t just a job for me—it’s my calling. My hope is to continue growing as an educator, learning alongside my students, and making a lasting impact in their lives. At Sunshine Worldwide School, I have found more than just a workplace—I’ve found a family. Living out my childhood dream has been a journey of fulfilment beyond anything I could have imagined. As I look to the future, I’m excited to continue helping my students find their paths and achieve their potential, while staying grounded in my purpose and passion for teaching.

Thank You
