Schools across the world have been striving towards making Education an experience that would help children truly stand on their own as competent and independent Individuals. There have been several methods that schools have been adopting as to make a name for themselves. After all, what is an Educational Institution without young bright learners?
 

SWS is the only school across India to have initiated the Sunshine Corporate Business World in a school setting. While the main idea behind the Corporate Model was to get students ready for the Corporate World by giving them a hands-on experience of how it works in reality, this initiative has also been specifically crucial in imparting life skills such as collaboration, critical and creative thinking, financial literacy, public speaking, and so much more.

 

In an attempt to further comprehend the vision behind the SWS Corporate Model, the MD of one of Corporate Model’s companies Sunshine Publications, Ms. Angel Abraham, interviewed the Founder-Director Mr. Deepak Khaitan who has been the visionary behind this and more initiatives towards reforming Education.

 

“Giving learners a practical exposure would change everything; it’s not just about preparing children for jobs; it’s about getting them to think like entrepreneurs. Whether they do a job, a business or any other profession; one should know how to take risks, have the decision-making ability, negotiation skills, research skills, and make sense of whatever it is that they are doing,” says Mr. Khaitan.

 

Sunshine Worldwide School has always been rooted in the learning to learn culture. They strongly believe that our young, bright, children are far more capable than what the societal norms dictate them to be.

 

The Sunshine Corporate Model was conceptualised keeping this very thought in mind. The idea is to give children a taste of what it would be like to step out in the real business world. To train children to respect money and businesses as the whole economy rotates around ethical businesses.

 

“It’s not just about being able to function in the real world out there, but also about conceptualising ideas, communicating concepts, and honing leadership skills. We as a school realise the significance of self-agency in the 21st century,” adds Mr. Khaitan.

 

“Whatever happens in your formative years, leaves the strongest impression on your mind and life; school-going years is the time our children should be exposed to entrepreneurship, the Corporate Model structure so that when they move forward, they can build on it,” continued Mr. Khaitan.

 

Another very potent component of the Sunshine Corporate Model is, entrepreneurship. Educational Institutions must think ahead and envision the world our children are going to live in as adults. It’d be the year 2035 by the time young students step out in the real world to make a life for themselves and looking at the current scenario, it is quite certain that they will have to create opportunities instead of going in search of them. They will have to be in the driver’s seat and write their own narratives – that’s where the idea of entrepreneurship comes in. The Sunshine Corporate Model gives children a glimpse into the Corporate World where different ideas come to life that then take the form of businesses thereby providing the founders/leaders a financially comfortable life.

 

There is a beautiful saying by an anonymous Writer that goes, “Leaders are not born, they are made.”

The Sunshine Philosophy believes in sharing responsibilities and giving Leadership opportunities not just to one or two but to as many minds as possible because collaboration helps gain different perspectives which in turn makes learning, greater.
