A Journey Back to My Roots: Moving to Goa with Sunshine Worldwide School.

Life has an uncanny way of bringing us back to the places that hold a part of our soul. For as long as I can remember, I had a dream of returning to Goa – a place that isn’t just a destination but a vibrant piece of my identity and heritage. Goa, with its serene beaches, lush green landscapes, and cultural richness, has always felt like a place where I could be my truest self. I wanted to experience the land that shaped so many of my ancestors, to reconnect with the places and traditions that I felt defined me.
But life, as we know, often leads us down different paths before aligning with our dreams. Though fulfilling in many ways, they never quite filled the desire to reconnect with my roots. Despite the distance, that longing never faded; in fact, it only grew stronger with time. Just when I thought my dream might remain just that – a dream – life threw me a wonderful surprise: an opportunity with Sunshine Worldwide School. Sunshine Worldwide School wasn’t just another educational institution; it was the bridge I needed to finally take that leap. As an educational space deeply connected with the values and culture I cherish. Sunshine Worldwide School offered more than a job. It offered me the chance to contribute to something meaningful within the place I wanted to call home. The philosophy at Sunshine is a breath of fresh air in the educational landscape. The school is built around the core belief that every child is gifted in their own way, and it’s the school’s role to discover, nurture, and develop these talents. The school’s approach is not simply to impart knowledge but to deepen each student’s understanding of themselves and the world around them.
Sunshine students are a breed apart from the typical school-goers I had previously encountered. Here, students are outspoken, confident, and they challenge the norms of what education traditionally looks like. From day one, I was met with sharp questions, curious eyes, and voices unafraid to speak up. Here, students aren’t content to sit quietly and absorb information. They want to understand, to question, and to discuss. They aren’t bound by the typical constraints of textbooks and lectures; they dive into topics, challenge them, and often bring insights that leave me reflecting on my own views. This openness to engage creates an atmosphere charged with energy and possibilities, making every class a unique experience.
One of the most profound shifts for me has been embracing the role of a co-learner alongside my students. In a traditional setting, teachers are usually seen as the sole authority. But at Sunshine, the learning process is a collaborative journey. Students contribute as much to discussions as the teachers do, often sparking debates that stretch our collective understanding. I’ve found myself inspired by their insights and motivated to look at familiar concepts from new angles. Reflecting on this journey, I realize that life has a way of circling us back to where we belong, especially when we hold our dreams close. Today, as I look out at the familiar sights of Goa, I am filled with gratitude – for the journey, for Sunshine Worldwide School, and for the opportunity to live my dream in the place that feels like home. I’m eager to see where this journey will take me, as I continue to explore, question, and grow.

Thank You

– Ms. Rebecca
